Sheikh Abdel Kareem Edghouch has been leading the Taraweh prayers over the last days of Ramadan. Saturday will be his last night at NICC for Khatam-e-Quran (completion of the Quran) Isha prayer starts at 9pm.
'The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months.' (Surah al-Qadr:3)
The beautiful month of Ramadan is flying by. Its blessed days and nights are soon about to leave and it breaks our hearts to see it go.
'Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven' (Bukhaari)
This is a perfect opportunity to earn Allah's pleasure. A time when your dua will surely be accepted.
Aisha RA said 'O Messenger of Allaah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say on that night?' He said, 'Say:
Allaahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibb al-'afwa fa'affu 'anni (O Allaah, You are forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me).' (Tirmidhi)
This is a month of chance - to wipe away past sins and to seek forgiveness.
In the spirit of Ramadan, the ISNA convention chose the theme ‘Ramadan – A Time for Change’ and proved to be a hugely successful 4 day event in Columbus. Renowned scholars like Hamza Yusuf, Suhaib Webb, Jamal Badawi and and Zaid Shakir took to the stage, and politicians including Congressman Keith Ellison discussed key issues facing the current climate. Almost 300 volunteers from the Noor community were on-hand to help at the conference and the level of commitment and organization from these valuable people was outstanding – may Allah reward all those involved.
The activities at the NICC this month have already begun with taraweh prayers every evening after the Isha prayer which commences at 9.30pm.
On Sept 11 and 12, the NICC will host an interfaith function and are pleased to have Interfaith Association of Central Ohio (IACO) as our guest. The speakers will include Dr Kashubak and Sr Shamsa and will be held at the NICC at 6pm.
On Sunday Sept 21 the NICC hosts Invite your colleague to Iftar. Following the hugely successful evening last year, $10 per person and tickets will be waived for guests.
On Sunday Sept 28 a Teachers Iftar will be held at the NICC. All teachers are invited from both public and private schools. Tickets cost $10 per person and guests eat for free.
