NICC Assistant Imam/Part-time Hifz Teaching (Full Time Position)

Noor Islamic Cultural Center (NICC) is looking for a qualified person who will function as a part time Imam and a part time teacher for the boys’ part time Hifz program.

Job Description for the Part time Imam Position:

The part time Imam would work hand in hand with the Appointed Imam for the purpose of serving its diverse and growing community. The Assistant Imam is expected to play an important role as a support for the Appointed Iman in terms of coordinating and implementing religious services and promoting the spiritual and moral development of adults and youth through structured programs, prayer services, and religious counseling. In the absence of the Appointed Imam, the Assistant Imam will take on the responsibilities of leading the prayers and implementing the programs established by and in cooperation with the Appointed Imam.   Both, the Appointed Imam and the Assistant Imam, will serve as scholars and guides for the community and will coordinate/lead outreach efforts with the non-Muslim community at large. This is a full time job with multiple responsibilities as described below.

Qualification Requirements for the Part time Imam Position:

A degree or certification in Islamic Sciences/Studies or equivalent; 2 to 3 years of experience as an Imam or an Assistant Imam (in a diverse community preferred) or in a leadership role in a masjid setting; should be a Hafiz of the entire Quran; mastery of Tajweed required and mastery of Quranic Arabic preferred; proficiency in giving Khutbah in English required and in Arabic preferred; experience in religious counseling is preferred but not required; experience in implementing a curriculum/structured program for the community (Tarbiyyah) preferred; experience in interacting/outreach with non-Muslims is preferred; experience with establishing programs for the youth and adults is preferred; must show commitment and dedication in performing duties; experience with youth and adult counseling is preferred; experience and potential in mediation and conflict resolution is preferred and good understanding of contemporary issues is relevant.

Job Description for the Part time Teaching Position:

Teach memorization of the Quran with correct Muharez and Tajweed; teach basics of Islam; develop and implement curriculum and class plans; develop, plan and implement extra-curricular activities; teach students individually or in group; maintain a pleasant learning environment; communicate, coordinate and interact with parents and school administration; maintain teaching related records and communicates and coordinates with fellow teachers in Noor Hifz programs

Qualification Requirements for the Part time Teaching Position:

Memorized the whole Quran with certification from a recognized Hifz school and having an Ijazah will be a plus; excellent in recitation of the Quran with correct Muharez and Tajweed; teaching experience in a Hifz school/program; educational background in Islamic Studies; minimum US equivalent High School degree and having a college degree will be a plus; be able to communicate with students in English clearly; have good writing skill in English; have basic computer skills such as Microsoft word and excel to write emails, memos and maintain records.

Imam

Noor Islamic Cultural Center is seeking a fulltime Imam to serve its diverse and growing community. The Imam is expected to play a lead role in coordinating religious services and promoting the spiritual and moral development of adults and youth through structured programs, prayer services, and religious counseling.  The Imam will serve as a scholar and guide for the community and will coordinate/lead outreach efforts with the non-Muslim community at large.

Job requirements:

  • A degree or certification in Islamic Sciences/Studies or equivalent
  • 2-3yrs experience as an Imam (in a diverse community in the U.S. preferred) or in a leadership role in a masjid setting
  • Should be a hafiz of the entire Quran or a significant portion
  • Mastery of tajweed required and mastery of Quranic Arabic preferred
  • Proficiency in giving khutba English required and in Arabic preferred
  • Experience in religious counseling is preferred but not required
  • Experience implementing a curriculum/structured program for the community (Tarbiyyah) preferred
  • Experience interacting/outreach with non-Muslims is preferred
  • Must be legal resident of the U.S. (citizen or greencard)

Noor Saturday School is looking for qualified motivated Lead Teachers to teach Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies
